Milly and Meryl - Now Mermaids by SAB-CA Milly and Meryl - Now Mermaids by SAB-CA
FULLVIEW FOR DETAILED GOODNESS!
So, we're all aware that I just recently did a "Milly and Meryl as Centuars" [link] Recently, right? Well, I guess Philip liked that pic, and wanted to see the ladies Transformed again! I was happy to do it, too!

Ok, well, I've never drawn mermaids. So this was different. Of course, this is the most complex underwater scene I've drawn (if not only one?) I'm getting something of a nack for backgrounds now, at least. I'm forming my own way! .... A way that changes each picture... -ahem-

Anywho, I hope you enjoy all the details! And all the little things you'll never see at this resolution... BWA HA! XD

Tools: .3mm Pencil, Photoshop CS2. My own picture of Milly and Meryl and of course, some official works. ANd a browse over mermaid arts with Google Image search.

Yeah, the planet Gunsmoke is pretty dry, isn't it? Here's my thought on it:

On their travels, the Bernadelli Insurance girls get a question about flood insurance. They really haven't seen enough water to make this type of insurance viable. So, with their interest piqued, they go out of the location of the claim, the town of (insert month-derived name here). When they get there, they are taken by suprise; there is such an expanse of water before them, that they feel as if they're looking at an ocean!

Curiosity gets the better of them (and makes them forget their assignment for a bit), so they dive on into the waters, curious as to what they could find in the deep. Now insert odd Kuroneko-created Treasure chest, and some odd kind of Mermaid's Curse, and Viola! XD

In this one, and the Centuar picture, I have a bit of a running gag that Kuroneko-sama is behind this, lol. And given the lost technology of the world, I always felt there was a shred of potential that something this odd could happen. Given oddities like Monev the Gale, and the Nebraska family having FREAKISHLY HUGE children, I think it all COULD happen in their world ^_^

Thanks for the Comment! I'm sure you can tell I'm quite a Trigun fan myself!

hmm well thats as best a Explinatiion as anyone can give in this situation ^^;

you really like the show alot, I like it to, infact ive almost finished reading the Maximum manga series which is more detailed then the anime but harder to figure out.

There is something Mystical about that cat, everyone has there therys on it, one of which is that its the reincarnation of Rem but all I know is that cat should never be underestimated.

animal TF's are a bit wild for this series but your right, considering how freakishly huge some people are on it, theres certenly room for other strange-ness.

being a fan of the series maybe you can answer this question ive been pondering "what exactly do plants do?" I know they need them to survive on the planet but what do they do besides make tree's grow in some places? and are they made by humans or are they an alien race?

lastly what moron named the entire planet gunsmoke? did like the first person who walked on the planets surface after the Seeds ships crashed just step out and scream "I get to name the planet, I call dibs!!" and instead of naming it something biblical, Mythical, or Scientific he went for cool sounding?

I never got into Maximum, but I really should! I just got kinda confused on where would be the best place to start, and then it fell to the wayside... -_-;

The Plants where basically big "Bring earth to where ever we land!" pods, right? They're what made it possible to, for example, have beautiful gardens and butterflies in a spaceship (Remember that scene with Rem, Vash, and Knives?) If everything went 100%, The plants would have turned Dusty old Gunsmoke into Earth 2, now with 100% more man-man ecosystems! LoL, but Knives REALLY messed that up (Ironic since He and Vash seem to be "Plants in Human form"), and now, what should have provided a planet worth of vegetation + High Quality living conditions, now just lays half-destroyed, providing for the small amount of people that survived Knives immature "I want REM!" fiasco. The plants (And Vash and Knives) where the tools that where suppose to make any inhabitable planet into a fully-liveable Utopia, or at least the tools needed to give them a sizeable place to start such an endeavor.

And for the name Gunsmoke... I think the Guy who named the planet, and Yashiro Nightow, can both claim the same excuse: the old TV series "Gunsmoke" was so cool to them, that they decided they'd pay tribute to it, when it looked like the massive desert + Saloon style was beginning to mimic the Wild Wild West. It kinda doomed the planet to eternal Showdowns at Noon, and terms like "Varmit!" and "Howdy Pard'ner!"... I'm sure if Rem made it to the planet, she woulda had them call it something like "Eden", and it'd be very peaceful and nice...

well you definedly should, the story is VERY different from the Anime and theres more characters.....you will shit your self once you see Livio the double fang fight wolf wood to the death.

hmm that kinda douged my real question, I asked exactly what the plants powers are, ive seen them make electricity, water, plant life and maybe even solid matter (how else could Knives make those guns), surprisingly Rems not 100% cheery in the Maximum manga's and vash almost kill's Rem and Knives goes insaine once they discovered what people did to pkants to study them, its very different.

I get the in joke off calling a desert planet that but its the logic i dont follow, its like landing on a artic planet (like in Lost planet) and nameing it planet snowball, sure it makes sense on one hand but then it makes no sense on the other. I have a felling Eden is ecactly what Rem would segest.

anyways, this is most nice. and I see that you are really working on the female figure, it definetly shows that you have been practicing. nice job.

I've really gotta work on my BGs to keep up with the stuff you pull off! ;) Though for now, I'm not touching the perspective stuff!

IT'd be great to see what you'd come up once you REALLY got deep into photoshop... I'd love to see your Roof Ninja's work with a similiar Treatment to this pic of mine! :w00t:

I always stated my "dream" as wanting to have characters with individual bodies and all, not just cookie-cutters, so I noticed unless I pay more attention to body shapes and muscle tones, it's just a bunch of hot air! I'm very glad it's noticeable!

Now I'll shut up, so I can leave some gushy comments on all the new works you have! -saving it all for each piece... :excited:-

yeah, I do want to know how much I could accomplish if I had photoshop...I was learning a lot of stuff on the GIMP but unfortunately my comp crapped out and now I have nothing...nothing but sadness...

but you have improved a whole lot since the last time you posted something in DA. mostly having to do with physique, and the textures of the many objects. even the color coordination seems to have gotten so much better. my applause goes to you good buddy.

Sab! Long time no post! =D How're you doing?^^

I'm loving the progress you're making with backgrounds here. Backgrounds are a very important feat that are often begun with far too late after one's started drawing! *cough*speaks in experience*cough* Some very nice layering work here I see... The lights coming from the treasure and the transparent fins and fingerwebbings give a very nice touch. Cute fishes too! :D

Talk to you later!^^

 Doing pretty good! How's about you? Always good to see one of your messages ^_^

Backgrounds are gettin fun now, since I don't feel completly style-less with them now, lol. Though I do feel kinda "meh" about my way with them in, SOME aspects. It's nice making each piece feel like a breathing world, eh? And I'm glad ya notice all the fine details! :thanks: At the last min, I noticed "You drew an underwater scene with NO FISHES!", lol. And that was just... senseless!

This next commish that I have ATM is a quicker work (no complex BG or anything) so shouldn't be away anywhere near as long as this. So, until the next work! (I've gotta resubscribe to DA, looking through deviations without thumbnails is odd, now, lol.)

Heh, a new schoolyear started since we last "talked" I believe, and I've made myself busier than ever! I'm in the decor group of our school musical now, and tomorrow's the first evening we play! My mom says she can't make an appointment with the hairdresser's for me because I'm never at home! XD *omg terrible* I proved her right by going to a pancake restaurant with the musical group until 9 this evening. It's wonderful though. I've really made a lot of new friends!

I once read this wonderful article on someone who discovered the art of making backgrounds is liking to make backgrounds. I must say I agree, and I try (and succeed) more and more to enjoy making backgrounds and really seeing them as part of the whole picture.
I also drew a scene with some underwater stuff, but I still have to color it! I might post the sketch, but I'm not sure. There are lotsa sea animals in that one. :3

I've subscribed to a print account just over a week ago. Figured it was a chance to take since Prints II was coming. =p
Can't wait to see your next work of art! ;)
