And now... Nagas! Nuts, eh?
"And thus, once again, Milly and Meryl end up in a strange, aftificially-created structure. This time, the area looked to be of an old-world style. After crawling through dried out, abandoned aqueducts and buildings, the duo finds a part of town that still seems to have some life, and water, save for the dilapidated armory. They enter into the building, and strangely find simply 2 weapons, kept in classes cases, or all things. How strange for an armory..? A little aloof from all they have taken in, Milly and Meryl reach out, and take these sacred tresures in hand... only to have their curiosity granted by yet another curse! Milly, ever the cheerful one, tries to look at the situation in the best light possible, but Meryl, not believing that she's fallen for the same trick yet AGAIN, simply decides to pout..."
I told you I never drew Mermaids before. I SURE AS HECK never drew Snakewomen (Nagas) before! Though at least I've drawn large snakes...
Anywho, I... Wow, I'm kinda odded out by this one. I love the fact that I went for things like texture and such different colors for everything... but now I wanna know how it clicks with everyone! So, you know.. don't critique... but... kinda critique? lol.
I sketched with the skinniest line possible, rather than trying to make the lines flow at all, I just sketched it out as finally as I could, with a 1px brush.
I generally suck at perspective shots. And some of it still looks a bit weird, doesn't it? But everyone has to learn, and has to start somewhere!
** Tools: .3mm Pencil, Photoshop CS2. My own pictures of Milly and Meryl, and the same official works for reference as before.

I love love love the setting here. Is there some cat-worship going on there? Hehe.
I think what would have made the perspective less awkward-looking is drawing a bit of the side for the armory. I mean, how often does one stand directly in front of a building as broad as that one, with no sides showing whatsoever? The front you drew just.. seems like it needs a side... somehow.

Kuroneko-sama has ruled the Trigun universe since the ancient days! LoL.
Very glad ya likes the setting! It was the biggest challenge in the pic for me.
And yeah, I should post my sketch to this picture in my scraps... The building I have there DID have a side in my sketches, and even the first 2 or so sketch revisions I did. But then I took a digital camera, and took some shots of some books from a similiar angle... and the most "impressive" looking one really didn't show any of the side of the books at all. So that's the one I went with, as it gave the best "Ooo, look at them!" kinda feeling for me.
I agree with your feelings, though! "Geeze louise, I wanna draw a side! Crap, the model I made of the scene says I shouldn't! -forces ideas along-"
Thanks once again!

Thanks much LadyRetsu This pic is so comment lonely here, lol. I'm glad you can SEE their expressions, haha. I normally wouldn't draw the central characters so small in a scene, but since I drew these 2 so often for commissions... I figured I'd try something different.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

If you know how to draw a stick figure or any stick creature, then you are an artist.
Everybody can draw and those who say they cannot, they just either do not have the patience or the time to do so.
